Creatinine High level

A creatinine level of 9 is very high and usually indicates severe kidney dysfunction or kidney failure. At this stage, diet plays a crucial role in reducing the burden on the kidneys and managing symptoms. The following foods should be strictly avoided or limited:

Foods to Avoid in High Creatinine (Level 9):

1. High-Protein Foods (Excess protein can worsen kidney strain)

  • Red meat (beef, lamb, pork)
  • Chicken, turkey, eggs (limit even if consumed)
  • Protein supplements (whey, casein)
  • Fish (especially high-protein types like tuna, mackerel)

2. High-Potassium Foods (If potassium is elevated, which is common in kidney failure)

  • Bananas
  • Oranges and orange juice
  • Potatoes (especially baked or boiled with skin)
  • Tomatoes and tomato products
  • Avocados
  • Dried fruits (raisins, apricots, prunes)
  • Coconut water

3. High-Phosphorus Foods

  • Dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt)
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Chocolate
  • Cola drinks
  • Processed foods with phosphate additives

4. Salty and Processed Foods

  • Pickles, papads, sauces, and chips
  • Canned soups and meats
  • Fast food and ready-to-eat meals
  • Table salt (use very limited or substitute with doctor-approved alternatives)

5. Excess Water or Fluid

  • If fluid retention is a problem, fluid intake should be controlled (as per doctor’s advice).

Safer Food Options:

  • Cooked white rice, white bread, pasta (low in potassium and phosphorus)
  • Boiled vegetables (after leaching to reduce potassium)
  • Apples, berries, grapes (in limited amounts)
  • Small portions of healthy fats like olive oil
  • Herbal teas (non-potassium-based)
